How does Load and Processes (check) work ?

I have 

check_local_procs!150!200

and

check_local_load

on the load I get "Warning threshold must be float or float triplet! "
on the processed I get "Usage: "

both show as "unknown" status .. can somebody point me to where I can learn how those two commands work (since I seem to be working them wrong) :D
