SNMP how to? check_snmp plugin

I have this configuration in hosts.cfg

define host{
        use                     generic-host            ; Name of host template to use

        host_name               VG6425BUE
        alias                   VG6425BUE
        address                 192.168.1.254
        check_command           check_snmp -H 192.168.1.254 -C public -o ifOperStatus.1
        max_check_attempts      20
        notification_interval   60
        notification_period     24x7
        notification_options    d,u,r
        }

When I run /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

I got

Running pre-flight check on configuration data...

Checking services...
        Checked 3 services.
Checking hosts...
Error: Host check command 'check_snmp -H 192.168.1.254 -C public -o ifOperStatus.1' specified for host 'VG6425BUE' is not defined anywhere!
        Checked 3 hosts.
Checking host groups...
        Checked 3 host groups.
Checking contacts...

If i do 

./check_snmp -H 192.168.1.254 -o ifOperStatus.1
SNMP OK - up(1)

I works OK!!

Why is it not recognizing the plugin??? Should I set up anything else for this to run??
