Off topic question - how to change domain name in sendmail.

Hi all.
I want to change the domain name of the mail that is sent out by nagios. It
now looks like this: nagios at felix.cannonale.com , I want it to look like
nagios at cannondale.com. I have tried changing /etc/HOSTNAME to cannondale.com
instead of felix.cannondale.com, that gave me a mail from nagios at cannondale
(without the .com). I also tried hacking sendmail.cf like this (I am not
certain this is the right way):

Cwcannodale.com
Dj$cannondale.com

This did not do any difference.

I have seen someone telling how to do this in this mailing list before but
after a search I could not find it.

I realize this is basically not a question for this mailing list but I have
been unable to get a good answer from any other place.
