That's all fine and good.  I've received offline apologies and 
retractions as well.

However, if someone wants to throw accusations or make insults in a 
public forum, website, mailing list, article, or press release it is 
their duty to make the retraction or apology public in the same method.

Public accusations and private apologies are cowardly IMO.  I'm now off 
to create a first draft of a Nagios Project Code of Ethics and Conduct.
