Unfortunately I'm not the one who started this thread, and I'm not on the
nagios-users list either.

Instead of telling me to follow the doc, you should rather _read_ it for
yourself. Volatile checks are not meant to use freshness checking; it's for
passive checks.

Traps are something that you never receive until there is a problem. The
first poster also had something similar, where his disk monitoring only send
alerts when a disk goes bad (Maybe there's other ways for disks, but not for
traps). In this case freshness checking is _not_ an option.
