They do different things, and check_openmanage uses both of them. It runs 'omreport chassis pwrsupplies' to get the status of the power supplies, and it runs 'omreport chassis pwrmonitoring' to get the status and value of the amperage probes. The latter includes the overall power consumption of the server. In your case, it's the 'pwrmonitoring' command that fails. This is a known problem with some older versions of OMSA.
