I have nrpe running on the box where I want this process monitored. So perhaps I didn't explain well enough. The check I need for the named process is easy enough using check_nrpe/nrpe and the check_total_procs plugin with the -c "command name" for the process itself. Well, Ok... but I want to monitor a service, say a process by name on an nrpe monitored server. If the number of that named process drops below X I want to get a notification. Is this possible or is there some way that I can force that situation to CREATE a HARD state change?
