For this I'm only interested in PINGing the different remote site routers in our VPN. Can I use Nagios without the extra burden of the services.cfg file and limit my config to the hosts.cfg ? What are the side effects of not having a services.cfg file ? When restarting the Nagios process I receive several warnings and error messages complaining about the lack of the services.cfg file. Despite these messages, Nagios seems to run fine.
