Nagios default ping packet

Hi All out there.
has anybody change the default ping packet (-p 5). What I want to do is change 
the ping packet to 35 packets like this(-w 3000.0!3%!5000.0!5%!-p 35). What do I 
need to do before this work? I am running nagiosxi the latest version.
