Newbie questions for Nagios XI latest release

To be rather general...

If you can monitor a device via SNMP, you can monitor it via Nagios. Also you can use something like NSCA to accept checks/heartbeats from remote systems/services.

"NSCA is a Linux/Unix daemon allows you to
integrate passive alerts and checks from remote machines and
applications with Nagios. Useful for processing security alerts, as well
as redundant and distributed Nagios setups."

The ease of which you can do the above... well, that's debatable depending on what may (or may not) already be done by various plugins other folks have kindly written as well as your skills to either extend/modify what exists or even write something totally new.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Newbie questions for Nagios XI latest release

Hi, I have a few questions on the latest release of the product. 1) Does Nagios support the use of Oracle as the back end database? Would doing so compromise our support from them?
2) Can Nagios receive alerts from external monitors? If so what mechanisms would be supported?
3) Does Nagios support monitoring IBM specific hardware - e.g. the bladecenter AMM's or IBM RSA II cards in standalone xServers for alerts?
