Patrick - I'm defining the hostgroup immediately above the service
definition in that file. I could see where that might not be
supported, but I do the same thing with my exchange.cfg file (and all
the others) and that seems to work fine.

Matt - I do have one host that references those hostgroups. Thanks for
the link! I'd run across (and bookmarked) it before when I was hunting
for ways to optimize Nagios configs.
