PENDING status in Nagios v3.0.6

Hello all.

I have a question ask regarding to the status , Pending , in Nagios.
Would someone please give me an advice with this?

I understand that the Nagios assumes the hosts and its services as UP and OK status
although the status is shown PEDNING in the Nagios user interface , such as service overview.

However, I have also checked the status.dat and the retention.log for particular host that it's 
host status and service status is in non-error state but the nagios user interface is still 
showing the host Pending.

Is there an special condition to make the host transit to non-Pending status?
