I'm sorry I'm not familiar with ASE.

I would first work out how to run the check_mssql plugin from the
command line so it will query your database.

Once you have worked that out (and it might require you to see what
the perl code is doing and make some changes), by all means report
back with what syntax was required and I can then tell you how to
implement it as a service check in Nagios.

I expect you would find the book "Nagios" by Wolfgang Barth, pub. No
Starch Press useful in understanding Nagios and in particular what
Service and Host checks are and how to configure them.
