Web server behind firewall,

i wan to monitor a webserver, its behind the IPS. when i try to monitor using nagios
check_http, nagios alerts me "host down".

can any one help. this is my client Server, and i want to check apache/jboss and need to restart if service is down. ping is disabled on it.
