Hi,
you could use an mobilephone you can connect to your nagios server and use the 
smstools [1]. So you have to pay the normal fee as if you would send an sms 
from your mobilephone. As hardware you can use everykind of supported 
mobilephone (I used an nokia 6310i for this).
