This may indicate you have a typo in the macro name. Can you post the  
full notification command you are using? What version of nagios are  
you using? This macro is only valid for nagios-3.x.

Is your notification script trying to access the value of the macro  
through environment variables? This would be unusual and would point  
to a different direction to look other than simple macro substitution.
