oracle_check plugin not working

I'd like to use the oracle_check plugin to monitor Oracle on a remote
host. I have installed the basic client and sqlplus but get this
error when trying to run the plugin:

./check_oracle: line 133: tnsping: command not found

Where can I get the tnsping utility without having do do a full-blown
oracle installation on my monitoring server? I'd really rather not
have to run this over ssh or with NRPE.
