Multiple nagios processes

Hi!

i'm having some problems with my rrd graphs in nagios and after some
investigating i i've found that i've got multiple nagios processes
running in my server. (/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios
-d /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg)

After restarting nagios a couple of times, i saw that nagios starts with
one process and when checks start, several new nagios processes have
been launched. Is it normal?
