Linux/Nagios Newbie

Hi

I'm a windows man through and through! i just ventured into the Linux world
and managed to bring up Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) and then Nagios. I'm stuck! I
discovered to my dismay nagios would not autodiscover anything for
me!...Where do i go from here.?
I'd appreciate any help i can get...thanks!
