Attempting to monitor the "Nagios Server" itself

check the nagios exchange.  there are plenty of nagios server related
checks that might indicate impending failure.  that being said, if
nagios dies how can it monitor itself?  I have scheduled a job in cron
that monitors, restarts, and emails me when it dies.
