Thanks for your answer. I can make the loadbalancer snmp capable. It's 
just a linux virtual server setup (IPVS) with keepalived.

I can also let it send an email to me. That's no problem. I just thought 
that since I'm using nagios anyway, why not use it to alert me when a 
failover occurs.
