check App Communication to DB

Hi all,

I have need for Nagios to call a URL to determine if our Application is able
to communicate with our DB2 database. Basically I don't want Nagios to check
if it can communicate with the DB but to check if the App does instead.

The URL I'm mentioning returns the text "Database read successful" if it
indeed can communicate with the DB. Currently we call this URL manually by
entering it into our web browser, but would like to integrate it into
Nagios.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can accomplish this?

Thanks a great deal
