VMWare doesn't like that.  The host's clock is set to ntp, then the VM 
is set to the host.  I'm pretty sure you need to make sure you have 
vmware-tools installed on the client system.

1. Run the vmware tools.

2. Add tools.syncTime = true to the /servername/.vmx file.

3. Add this to /boot/grub/grub.conf: kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.667 ro 
root=/dev/hda2 *clock=pit*

4. Restart
