SNMP parent

I monitor a switch in our network with a couple of snmp scripts.
Sometimes it happens that there is no snmp connection availible through the network and all the checks report this problem.
Can I use service dependencie in this case on all the snmp script that use a snmpagent as a parent? Or am I missing something and that there is the posibility that I could miss a warning notification.
