can nagios run bash scripts in the event a server goes down

Hi All

I am a newbie who has installed Nagios and is setting
up the monitoring of several servers.

I have some time constraints on a problem, and I am
looking for web based articles on how Nagios can run
bash scripts in the event of a server outage.

Any help?
