I'm surprised that nagios-core brings in any gui at all. Seems like 
gentoo botched it here. Most other distros have nagios-core and 
nagios-gui. Only the gui requires apache. Nagios works just fine without 
it. Are there other nagios-* packages available for emerge'ing? If so, 
my guess is that the statusmap hides in one of those.
