Monitoring devices thru http protocol.

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a known solution to monitor remote servers (windows boxes) over the internet.
The best option for me would be thru the http protocol. I was thinking that passive check status updates are sent with normal put and get commands to the nagios webserver.

To give more info! I want to monitor (passive) servers behind firewalls which only allows http and https connections.

I hope somebody understands my question and has a solution for me.

Erwin.
