Problem with host notification ( Nagios 2.7)

Hi folks,

I have problems with host notifications in nagios 2.7. It may be, that I
had similiar problems with 2.5, which were the reason I updated nagios.

Here's my host configuration:

I changed the host's IP Address to something that is not reachable, so
the service checks of the host failed an nagios issued host checks:

[1171127993] HOST ALERT: eulep04;DOWN;SOFT;1;CRITICAL - Plugin timed out
after 10 seconds
[1171128003] HOST ALERT: eulep04;DOWN;SOFT;2;CRITICAL - Plugin timed out
after 10 seconds
[1171128013] HOST ALERT: eulep04;DOWN;HARD;3;CRITICAL - Plugin timed out
after 10 seconds

Now, since the host is in an hard state, I would expect a notification
to go out. But there is no log of a notification attempt (I have enabled
the log_notifications option in nagios.cfg). Further, when looking at
the CGI I can see, that the host is down, but the "current attempt"
field is always "1/3". 

In the following there are some failed service checks:

 [1171128013] SERVICE ALERT: eulep04;CPU
Temperature;UNKNOWN;HARD;1;Sensor location cpu not found.
[1171128080] SERVICE ALERT: eulep04;SAP Logon;UNKNOWN;HARD;1;Cannot
connect to remote SAP system on host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
...
but I  do not see a host check attempt (could be ok: why check, if the
next service returns OK, the host is OK). The current attempt filed in
the CGI stays at "1/3"

Any ideas ?
