Not quite what you're looking for, but maybe along those lines is
check_find_new_hosts.

An example (if I remember right) of it's usage would go something like:


./check_find_new_hosts /path/to/some/folder 10.200.200.0 24
you at yourdomain.com


/usr/sbin/fping  a -r 1 -g 10.200.200.0/24 2>/dev/null |

OK: No network changes occurred.
