It is definitely something with net-snmp since it is my snmpwalk command
that times out.  I will try the patch you suggested.

Are you having a problem with check_snmp, or SNMP in general?

It's likely this bug in net-snmp:

The fc6 patch works on rhel5, so you could wait for the upstream patch,
or
rebuild with the patch from fc6.
