check_http plugin question

Greetings,
If I don't define a warning/critical response time
for the check_http plugin, and the plugin ends up
timing out by default after 10 seconds, will notification
be sent? Or do I need to define a timeout? I was
hoping that I could just rely on the default plugin
timeout of 10 seconds since that's acceptable for
notification.

Thanks,
