Nagios Hanging at Startup/Init

Howdy everybody. I've been running Nagios on my CentOS 4.3 machine for a 
while now, but recently (I can't say exactly when) the Nagios init has 
been hanging when the server boots. A "ps -wef | grep nagios" after the 
server comes up shows the following processes running:

root      2435  1454  0 09:26 ?        00:00:00 initlog -q -c 
/etc/rc3.d/S99nagios start
root      2436  2435  0 09:26 ?        00:00:00 /bin/sh 
/etc/rc3.d/S99nagios start
root      2440  2436  0 09:26 ?        00:00:00 su - nagios -c touch 
/usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log /usr/local/nagios/var/retention.dat
root      4251  4218  0 10:43 pts/1    00:00:00 grep nagios

I also noticed the following lines in the "messages" log when I last 
rebooted:

Jul 28 09:26:50 hoshi nagios: Starting network monitor: nagios
Jul 28 09:26:50 hoshi su(pam_unix)[2440]: session opened for user nagios 
by (uid=0)
Jul 28 09:26:50 hoshi nagios: Do you want to choose a different one? [n]

Any ideas?
