Main page displaying old data intermittently

I'm having a problem with the status display on the service detail page
for our nagios server. We had some systems that were fluctuating, and I
was clicking between the 'service detail' page and the 'All problems'
link on that page. The service details page would show various services
down, I would browse to the all problems page and it would show either
some of the same services having issues, or that almost everything was
ok. Then, I would go back to the service detail page to find that
everything looked fine.

So, I shut down nagios, backed up the retention file and the objects
cache, and restarted nagios. Now, it will show a number of problems on
the service detail page - the spread of services looks like it is
similar to what was showing as problematic before I did the nagios
restart. However, I click on 'all problems' and it shows that everything
is ok. I then click back on the service detail page to find that
everything appears to be fine. If I then leave the service detail page
for a while, it eventually refreshes to say that there are some more
issues, including some critical. I then go through the whole thing again
with the same result.

I haven't confirmed if it is displaying historical 'problems', or if it
is just showing random issues, but it's making me extremely frustrated.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Note: it seems to have settled down slightly while I've been writing
this email, but it is still doing this, just a bit less than before.

Thanks,
Guy
