check_up2date/check_yum plugins

Is anyone using the check_yum/check_up2date plugins, specifically the
check_up2date portion on RHEL4?

<http://www.openfusion.com.au/labs/nagios/>

I'm good with the check_yum side of things, it's the check_up2date part.

Basically, check_up2date runs fine when run from the remote host via
command line as root. RHEL's up2date command, however, doesn't allow the
user nagios to run up2date.

The check_yum plugin executes within it's script:

yum -d0 check-update

This command in yum is allowed by a normal user.

The check_up2date portion executes:

up2date --nox --list

Which fails as a normal user.

I can tell the NRPE daemon to start as root on the remote host, which is
what this runs over. But then the check_nrpe command on the nagios host
can't connect as nagios to root on the remote.

Before I drop the author a note I figured I'd ask on here. Anyone had a
similar issue? Thanks!

Max
