./check_http --help will show you that you can specify the port you may
have to change definition in the commands configurration file. I created a
second definition check_http_443 to go against port 443.

[Nagios-users] services config for http

Is there an option to have check_http command check for http service on
non-standard ports (i.e. 80,1741,2002)?

Nagios 1.3 RHFedoraCore 3
/usr/local/nagios/etc/services.cfg
define service{
         use                             generic-service
         host_name                       someserver
         service_description             HTTP
         is_volatile                     0
         check_period                    24x7
         max_check_attempts              3
         normal_check_interval           5
         retry_check_interval            1
         contact_groups                  linux-admins
         notification_interval           120
         notification_period             24x7
         notification_options            w,u,c,r
         check_command                   check_http
         }
