host checks - ping service

If your interest lays only on verifying if the host is up, them having a 
service checking ping would be pointless. Although, you could set up a 
check_ping service to monitor the host response time.

Remember that hosts aren't regularly checked unless you have 
check_interval enabled in your host configuration.
