Or do it with a real user’s procmailrc. Then you could archive the acks in organized mailboxes to boot.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Acknowledgement Script

Hi all,

Does any one have a script that can be used with sendmail so that I can send an email to the nagios server to acknowledge events? or any idea how to go about writing one?

Many thanks,

I should write one, that sounds like a good idea.

Mail server on the nagios box that can accept email. So in my case make an exchange smtp forward. Send email to address at box

Alias from address to |/etc/smrsh/my_perlscript.pl

Parse the email with MIME::Parser, or something else. If there’s a hit, write acknowledgement to command file.

That’s how I’d do it, but I’m new at this so eh.
