Upgrade problem

While upgrading to version 2.0b2 I have the following issue:

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v nagios.cfg    # reports no problems
/etc/init.d/nagios start                               # appears to loop
					# & web interface indicates
"internal server error" 

Rolling back to ver 1 nagios works ok. Suggestions welcome
I have looked at the bigger.cfg, nagios.cfg, and cgi.cfg & they look ok.
Also I have started from the beginning of ./configure and arrived at the
same result.

 uname -a
Linux appnagios 2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 23:35:44 EST 2005 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Upon attempting to start nagios the following message....
