Latency between passive check receipt and reflection on web page

Hey all,

We are using Nagios 1.2 on Redhat AS EL3 to show lab host availability
to the student population of QUT. The lab hosts submit a passive service
check 'Lab PC available' and this service is cluster checked for the
number of OK or CRITICAL hosts. The cluster check program is called by a
cgi for display on a web page.

There is quite a delay between a lab host submitting a result and that
state change being reflected on the Nagios web site and subsequently the
cluster check.

Does anyone have any tips or pointers on how to reduce this time between
receipt of a passive service check and seeing the change on the web page
and cluster check result?

I've set service_reaper_frequency=1 and command_check_interval=-1.

Thanks,
