Critical Could not interpret output from ping command

Hi all,
I am having error while using the check_ping plugin on
Linux Suse 9.1.( I diddn't have this problème with
Mandrake 10.1).
I installed the nagios 1.2 along with the plugins 1.4.

As nagios user when I try the following command :
./check_ping -v -H 102.11.17.5  -w 100.0,20% -c
500.0,60% -p 5
I got the following  
/bin/ping -n -U -w 10 -c 5 102.11.17.5 ==> /bin/ping
-n -U -w 10 -c 5 102.11.17.5
Critical - Could not interpret output from ping
command.
While the /bin/ping -n -U -w 10 -c 5 102.11.17.5 works
fine. 
I believe it is  something related to the OS version
and the plugin( since it works fine on Madrake) 
Any idea to solve this? 
By the way, I also tried to use the check_icmp plugin,
as nagios user, the operation is not permitted!!!!
While as a root I can get the response.
