There is a check_bgpstate.pl in the nagios-plugins-1.4/contrib directory.

Yes.  I'm using the check_bgp plugin which works perfectly.  Not 100%
sure where I got -- there's no documentation in the code, but it might
be in the attic at the nagios-plugins sourceforge site.
