Nagios with a large number of services

Clearly PHP is much more suited to the task, and I do not think that anybody is going to argue that. :)  Regarding Nagios-DB; does it support 2.0b2, and can I run it /without/ a database?  I've got no desire to tack a mysql backend on to Nagios as it is...

Well, not all interfaces are born equal. While I really do love C, even 
I admit that HTML generation isn't its comparative strong suite.

Nagios-DB uses PHP for its interface, and I think most would agree with 
me that PHP is a lot faster to work with than C.
