Nagios not reporting failures

Hi

Got a Nagios installation running fine bar it won't send out an alert 
via SMS.

Two alerts should occur - one by email (works), one SMS. The SMS service 
is powered by a script that logs to a file. No logs are being written 
to. We can sudo into the nagios user account and send an SMS using the 
paramaters and everything gets logged and received fine, indicating the 
command is not being run to send the SMS.

Yet looking through the 'view config' web screen, everything ties up 
nicely. The services are checked, they go red, after three attempts the 
nagios log says it is notifying people via both email and SMS.

Very odd.

What is even odder, is that the same installation files are deployed by 
rsync to two other monitoring servers, and those send SMS alerts fine. 
Only difference is the network hosts/services configurationm, and these 
are extremely simple.

Can anyone shed light to this situation or provide some hints of where 
to look?
