Log monitoring?

Anybody have any recommendations on the second item - if a file is found to
be x minutes old, trigger an alert? What if the file to be checked is on
another machine?

Thx!

I would use the check_log2.pl to do the log checking.. check_log uses diff
and if the log files are large, can really bring down performance.

Is there any plugin to allow me to monitor logfiles and do stuff like
"if you have not seen this pattern in X minutes, sound the alarm".

Is there any plugin to check for files and file age in a directory? "If
there are more then X files here, or if the files are older then X
minutes, sound the alarm"?
