NRPE Intermittent SSL Errors

Hello Nagios friends and thanksinadvance

The relevant FAQ entry F0191 does not apply here. None of the suggested
problems exist or the daemon would never work.

The exact error message is;

Nov 11 13:33:27 localhost nrpe[7696]: Error: Could not complete SSL
handshake. 5

Notice the '5' at the end there, that's gotta mean something? This seems
to happen with various hosts at various times, nothing that I can pin
down just yet. Redhat 9 is what I'm using on the nagios and client nrpe
boxes.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks

No, it varies by distribution and version of the distribution. Most use
nobody or apache, I believe. Either use ps to determine what it is or
look in your web server configuration files. For apache you'd want to
look for

User someuser
Group somegroup

in httpd.conf.
