Nagios performance data problems

In General, when a Service check fails in Nagios, Nagios executes the
Host check for the Host, the service is configured to. So first you have
to make sure, that your host checks are executed in a efficient way, AND
you have to minimize the amount of services, which are critcal.
With many services in critical state, it's normal, that nagios is
getting a little busy...maybe you should run a nagios -s nagios.cfg.
