Eventlog/syslog

This seems to be the way to go, but unfortunately you can end up with an
awful lot of syslog messages if you have a lot of servers.  You then need
another app to keep track of syslog, and feed alerts in (maybe via nscad) to
a Nagios volatile service.

There is another windows app that will let you query the eventlog directly,
which is good if you are looking for a particular event, but has the problem
of treating an event as a metric.

I'm currently looking at the NTSyslog code to see if I can make it send
NSCAD alerts instead of syslog (easy) and add a filter (hard).  Don't hold
your breath, though.
