Nagios stopped running

Hi!
I had configured Nagios and it was running fine.
Now, all of a sudden, it has started giving error-

There doesn't appear to be any host status information in the status log...

Only the httpd service was restarted.No other changes have been made.
On doing /etc/rc.d/init.d/nagios status, it gives ps: error: list of process 
ids must follow -p.

what could be the reason??
