NT service with "$" in the name

Actually in my command line tests, "MSSQL\$BKUPEXEC" and MSSQL\$BKUPEXEC 
yield the same result.  Their should have been a beginning " also.

That is the service and the ! is the $HOSTADDRESS$.  Should I be writing 
it a different way?
