Apache/Nagios issue

Hi all:

I am not sure what is going on but when I changed the password of a
user, I get the following error:

Server error!
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your
request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI
script. 
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster

This is the command I used:

htpasswd /usr/local/nagios/share/.htaccess user1

Can anyone shed any light as to what is going on?
